Piano and Vocal Instructor
Elif Sanchez's journey began in her hometown in Istanbul, Turkey. She auditioned for one of the greatest conservatories in Eastern Europe, Istanbul University State Conservatory, and was accepted with the highest score. She studied classical performance on oboe and English horn in a unique program in the university that was designed for young talented children. She performed at many significant venues in Turkey such as Cemal Resit Rey Hall, Hagia Irene Museum, Basilica Cistern, and many more. Later on, Elif started traveling internationally at such a young age to play in well-known festivals such as Le Festival International des Musiques Universitaires (FIMU) in France and Międzynarodowe Warsztaty Puławach in Poland. In the same year, she also started her minor in piano performance and graduated with one of the highest scores.
In 2011, while she was attending the college level at the conservatory, she also pursued her passion for jazz and auditioned for Bahcesehir Univesity Jazz School. She got accepted as a jazz vocalist with a full scholarship and received a diploma. In 2013, She auditioned for Berklee College of Music and got accepted with the Berklee International Tour Scholarship. She studied jazz performance on oboe and voice as well as the music business. During her stay in Boston, she taught voice, piano and woodwinds to all ages and levels at many prestigious schools including Berklee College of Music. She held workshops in South America and Europe. Elif is currently based in New York, performing, teaching, and recording her debut album, which will be released in May 2020. Elif has 8 years of experience teaching students of all ages and levels. Her teaching experience began at a very young age, when she was asked by her teacher to assist the other students at the school with their preparation for studio auditions. She assisted the students teaching woodwinds, voice, piano, solfege, and ear training. After this experiene she began teaching students more formally.
Through the years, she has come to understand that each student has a different path to follow. What works for one student may slow down another. For that reason, she always adjusts the way she teaches according to her student's needs, interests, and temperaments; while also driving for effective results in the lesson.
Elif strives to earn each students trust as she employs empathy during times of difficulty and praise for their accomplishments.
