Laurence Cummings is an Australian pianist who began studies in music at an early age under the guidance of his father, who owned and operated a community music school. In 2013 he moved to New York, studying further with Jeffrey Biegel, Yuri Kim, and Vladimir Feltsman. Laurence has performed recitals in Australia, France, Italy (Castelnuovo di Garfagnana’s famed Teatro Alfieri), and the United States (Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall).
Laurence is deeply committed to the process of music education, and has been actively teaching for over a decade. His students have ranged from very young beginners learning the musical alphabet and finding Middle C to highly advanced students tackling some of the most challenging piano repertoire. He has prepared many students for recitals and exams (ABRSM), including several students whose success in a competition led to an opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall. He is also a teaching assistant to Professor Yuri Kim of Mannes School of Music.
