
Rachel Lynn Kaufman
Vocal and Piano Instructor
Rachel Lynn Kaufman is a classically-trained vocalist, singer/songwriter, and vocal instructor. Rachel studied music at The University of Maryland, College Park, and has performed throughout the DMV area, as well as at numerous NYC venues, including Mercury Lounge and Webster Hall. She has also toured regionally throughout the east coast.
Rachel's EP project, To Street & Transfer, released under the name Rachel Lynn, boasts “a powerful voice and top-notch writing ability” (Arena.com). The project has been praised by publications such as The Huffington Post, Pop Matters, and Baeble Music, stating, "There's nothing apologetic about Rachel Lynn's voice; with booming soul and charismatic charm, she conquers space fervently and without restraint." (Baeble Music). Rachel was named one of New Music Seminar’s Top 100 Artists on the Verge and was selected to officially showcase at CMJ 2014, CMJ 2015, and NACA Mid-Atlantic 2015. She has since opened for acts such as AJR (Warner Bros.), played several shows during SXSW 2017, and signed multiple sync licenses (Discovery, E!, Bravo, Netflix, TLC, Oxygen).
Rachel also has extensive experience in musical education, ranging from private teaching (ages four to 63) to developing curriculum in a classroom setting. Rachel previously worked for Soyulla Artists and Little Chopins teaching in-home private lessons throughout Manhattan. She was a music teacher in Harlem RBI's REAL Kids program, creating lesson plans for kindergarten and first grade students, and, similarly, she developed and taught choral curriculum in a workshop setting as a counselor at Opequon Quaker Arts Camp. As a music instructor and vocalist with Kidville's Rockin' Railroad program, Rachel taught music fundamentals to children in a "guardian and me" style setting, using early childhood education techniques. Additionally, she toured with Pro Arts Management in their Rockstar Camp Program as a vocalist, leading interactive performances of Top 40 and Motown/rock classics.
Rachel loves working with young people, encouraging them to strengthen their musical abilities while having fun!
