Rili Newman (they/them) is a Suzuki-trained violin teacher with 21 years of playing and 6 years of teaching experience. They have had students ranging from 5 years old to 60 years old, and teach beginner through advanced-intermediate, as well as special needs. Rili believes strongly in the power of music to express oneself, to calm and process emotions, and to build deep friendships and community.

Their students have performed recitals for families and friends as well as onstage at the Alaskan Folk Festival, in Juneau, Alaska, Rili's hometown. Outside of teaching, they are currently crafting and perfecting their own musical style through composing, gigging, jamming, recording and practicing all over NYC.
