Yifei Zhou is a songwriter, performer, producer, and educator based in New York City. She has been teaching voice, piano and guitar lessons — both privately and in group settings — since 2021, working with students of all ages.
Her teaching philosophy emphasizes building a solid technical foundation while fostering joy in creativity. She encourages students to develop not only as performers but also as creators in music. Yifei has prepared students for recitals and auditions, as well as supported their personal growth and enjoyment through music.

She holds a master's degree from the Berklee Global Jazz Institute and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Voice from the New England Conservatory. Yifei has performed internationally at prestigious venues and festivals including Blue Note Shanghai, Shanghai Jazz Festival, Shanghai Jazz Club, Wooden Box, Wally's, and Jordan Hall. She founded the quartet Locomotive, which performed throughout Shanghai, and her songwriting project mioera has been featured at well-known venues in both New York City and Boston. She also served as a resident artist at the piano bar Hobgoblin in Boston.

Beyond music, Yifei studies philosophy, folk traditions, visual art, and poetry. Residency time is essential to her creative process, offering the solitude and continuity needed to develop work that is intuitive, vulnerable, and deeply attentive.
