Our Program
Confidence, Tenacity, & Creativity
We believe that anyone can become a performing musician with thriving creative expression. We do this by providing students with private lessons, performance workshops and semester recitals; coaching them in exams and competitions; and instructing our students in improvisation.
Confidence

Performance Workshops
Students have the opportunity to perform and receive feedback in a friendly and welcoming environment.

These workshops give students the chance to look pay attention to dynamics, temp, articulation, performance etiquette, and more. We also have fun musical games where students get the chance to test out and share their music theory knowledge.

With workshops, students become less intimidated playing in front of others and more confident in their performance ability.

Recitals

Recitals are an exciting time for students to share their hard work and celebrate their achievements with friends and family.
Throughout the semester, students prepare by memorizing pieces, performing in front of peers, and attending Performance Workshops. Nearly all of our students become comfortable playing in front of others as the semester progresses.
We believe that performance teaches our students life skills that will be with them for the rest of their lives.
Tenacity
Private Lessons
With each lesson, players increase their hand-eye coordination, aural skills, music notation knowledge,
and their understanding of music.
Lessons are designed to remain fun and engaging, while also challenging students with new learning concepts like repetition, practicing, and memorization.
At the end of each semester, students showcase their hard work for family and friends at our bi-annual recital.
Music Exams

Students who have developed great practicing habits and a desire to master their instrument can take one of two tests: the ABRSM (The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) or RCM (Royal Conservatory Of Music). Both provide increased musical proficiency and grading that informs the student where they are excelling and where they can improve.
Completing all levels of these exams with honor or distinction can help with students' acceptance into colleges.

Competitions

Competing is not about winning. We believe that the more our students participate in competitions, the more likely they are to develop resilience, which will broaden their lives in adulthood. We find opportunities for our students to perform and compete in the NYC area. Competitions have included the Rondo Young Artist Festival, Little Mozarts Competition, Vivo Competition, and more.

Creativity
Music has been described as a language, and as students learn the language of music they begin desiring to express themselves. Self expression through music is introduced early in students' pedagogical experience at Keys To Success by ending each lesson with free improvisation. As a student moves through our curriculum and become more fluent in the language of music, they begin to improvise more clearly and distinctly. They are able to use their understanding of theory, note reading, scales, and rhythm. Some of our students have gone on to create their own songs, instrumentals, and even stream their music on Spotify.
